Doxie’s Dish: How to Handle Panhandlers

I know you have come across panhandlers, we all have, but how do you handle this interaction? Yes sometimes we ignore ‘them’, or pass quickly and say ‘sorry’ if that feels right.

Sometime you may have given someone your meal coming out of a restaurant in downtown Detroit, I used to this all the time.  Before we started the Backpack Project, I figured it was helping out without hurting me too much and it gave people food to fill their bellies.

Maybe you even wonder what they do with the money? Do they buy booze, drugs, a night at a hotel to sleep?

This link is from Thrive Detroit magazine which is a successful business model for providing income to the homeless and vulnerably housed…so please when you see someone selling it..BUY IT!

Until then please read this artilce is entitled;”How Should I Help a Panhandler?” http://www.thrivedetroit.org/coupons/
