Members of the Youth Group at the First Presbyterian Church in Yale recently assisted with a “Backpacks For The Homeless”program in Detroit. The group went to Detroit and helped fill 400 backpacks with food, clothing, personal hygiene items, handwarmers and blankets that were distributed to the homeless. “This has been part of the Youth Group’s mission for the past few years,” said group leader Amy Dowd. “We made the trip to an office in downtown Detroit and helped the group fill the backpacks. It was quite an experience for our girls to see what being homeless really means and it made them want to help even more.”
