Out on the streets on Christmas eve

My friend Fleck contacted me to get some backpacks so he could get them on the streets on Christmas Eve. How very generous to help the homeless i thought …and i learned he has done this numerous times by getting together with his friends Rob and Mike. They make sandwiches or wrap hot hotdogs in foil to keep them warm then hit the streets.. kinda like Punks helping Homeless they joked. Hellz yea i say..

So it was super rainy Christmas Eve and i am not going to lie I was really up for hitting the streets in the rain and getting cold. My experience is that most homeless find shelter and are not out panhandling. And its a holiday eve at night.. not a real good combination to find folks. But they were determined to go..so i loaded up supplied filled backpacks in my car and headed over to where they were.. Ana soon joined us.

Once the hotdogs were all packed we hit the streets. ..and this is our adventure in images. We were all over town from Hart Plaza to Tent City set up on Larned near Rivard. To Southwest and downtown and finally to the NSO on MLK and Third to drop off the rest of the hotdogs before calling it a night.

So thankful to all of you for braving the rainy night instead of being warm and inside preparing for the holiday.

We also meet some folks in Hart Plaza and here is the blog it HERE

We ran into a bunch of folks at the Tent City set up on Larned near Rivard. Now dismantled by the city. But that night the Mayor (CJ) was cooking chicken noodle soup which they shared while we hung out and chatted with folks and enjoyed some shelter from the rain under the trees.
